丹霞山（ 中国红石公园），位于广东省韶关市仁化县境内，东经113°36′25″至113°47′53″，北纬24°51′48″至25°04′12″之间。总面积292平方千米，是广东省面积最大的风景区、以丹霞地貌景观为主的风景区和世界自然遗产地。
丹霞山是世界“丹霞地貌”命名地。由680多座顶平、身陡、麓缓的红色砂砾岩石构成，“色如渥丹，灿若明霞”，以赤壁丹崖为特色。据地质学家研究表明，在世界已发现1200多处丹霞地貌中发育最典型、类型最齐全、造型最丰富的丹霞地貌集中分布区。
距今1.4亿年至7000万年间，丹霞山区是一个大型内陆盆地，受喜马拉雅造山运动影响，四周山地强烈隆起，盆地内接受大量碎屑沉积，形成了巨厚的红色地层；距今7000万年以后，地壳上升而逐渐受侵蚀。距今600万年以来，盆地又发生多次间歇上升，平均大约每万年上升1米，同时流水下切侵蚀，丹霞红层被切割成一片红色山群，也就是丹霞山景区。

植物资源
在植物资源上，具有明显的中亚热带和南亚热带过渡的特征，丹霞山全部植物共216科、891属、1916种。其中丹霞山植物区系共有1706种，隶属于206科778属；丹霞山各类珍稀濒危保护植物23种；IUCN红色名录收录的5种；中国物种红色名录16种；国家重点保护野生植物名录13种；丹霞山中国特有种97科204属347种；其中丹霞山本地特有种中，丹霞梧桐、丹霞南烛、丹霞小花苣苔最为突出和具有代表性。被国家重点保护野生植物名录（1999年）记载的13种，其中中华水韭为Ⅰ级重点保护。
动物资源
在动物资源上，保存着野生动物良好的生态环境。丹霞山有哺乳动物88种、鸟类288种、爬行类86种、两栖类37种（或亚种）、鱼类100种或亚种，昆虫1023种。列入中国物种红色名录的动物59种，列入IUCN红色名录的动物73种，列入CITES的动物66种；中国国家重点保护动物54种，其中Ⅰ级保护动物7种，Ⅱ级保护47种。有国家重点保护野生动物75中，其中一级保护动物9种，二级保护动物66种。
遗迹资源
丹霞盆地西南缘还有著名的马坝人（尼尔德特人）头骨化石遗迹，是研究早期智人的重要线索。同时在狮子岩的石峡文化遗址，是距今6000年前的新石器时代晚期的古人类文化遗存。
