My topic is Honesty
As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News， I visited Dr. James Gilman， the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture， this is James， and this is me and we are looking at a dragons tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago， James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there， which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s， when the Japanese occupied Qingdao， his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao， he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragons mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years， but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience， and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 2002， he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm wele.
When James visited Qingdao， I acpanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct ones error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Lets be honest people of good moral character.

many people burn incense and kowtow， do good deeds and strive for virtues， not just for the present， but mainly to let god see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife， or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. they do believe in afterlife. but i cant help asking: suppose there were no afterlife， would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? and if god does not see what you are doing， would you still be so upright and selfless? if you work， not for serving the public and liberating the others， but just for a better afterlife of your own， isnt it a little too selfish? paring with this kind of believers， those who dont believe in afterlife， but still keep doing good deeds， are the most sincere and honest philanthropists， because they do them not for themselves but for other.
you may wonder if i believe in afterlife. my answer is: i know nothing about my previous life， so i dare not make improper ments on afterlife. but i do hope theres afterlife! because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. i have so many dreams， so many wishes， so many ambitions， as well as so many regrets and concerns. if there were no afterlife， all of them will remain unrealized!

There was an elder who traveled all around the world to introduce China for bidding Olympic games. That special hard experience had rooted in his mind. After hearing the good news that China succeeded in the bid for hosting the 29th Olympic Games, he was so excited that he could not stop shedding tears, saying I had been waiting for the day since 1993, the happiest thing finally happened to China. The man is Mr. HeZhenliang, who has devoted his rest life to Chinese Olympic Games. It is with his spirit, passion, courage and strong sense of patriotism to China that we are taking our next step into the world.
Ladies and gentlemen, now I have a question for all of you who are sitting here. Do you still remember that memorable scene? Yes or no? Please put out your hands, let me see how many? Wow, a lot of people. The unforgettable moment is still lingering in your mind clearly.
At 10:08 P.M. on July 13th, 20XX, Mr. Samaranch, the former President of the International Olympic Committee, announced in Moscow that the sponsoring city of the 29th Olympiad will be the city of Beijing. Just at the same time in China, the excitement rippled through the Olympic conference room into Beijing, into the city and into the whole nation. The Chinese, abroad or at home, celebrated the successful great moment in various ways, like hugging each other, jumping, yelling, crying, drinking, singing, dancing and parading on the streets in the midnight. Modern China, a product of 5000 years of civilization and history, with her spirit of hard work and perseverance, finally shook hands with the Olympic games, fulfilling the long expected dream.
Now many Chinese are trying their best to do what they can do for the upcoming games. They learn English to communicate with foreigners. They get rid of bad habits to protect environments. They are eager to be volunteers to serve the Olympic Games. They introduce great Chinese tradition, culture and civilization to the world people. They apply for the torchbearers to carry on the message “share the peace, share the Olympics”.
At the moment when one-year countdown has marked, our Chinese people are getting ready for this big event. The Beijing Olympic committee organization is keeping the promise made in the bid. Under the guidance of the concept of the green Olympic, the tech-Olympic and the people’s Olympic, the 29th Olympic games will strengthen the communication, enhance the cooperation, and shorten the distance between China and the world.
Once again, I want to emphasize one point “national participation”. Like us, a common citizen, we strongly realize the responsibility of our own: planting more trees to cover the space, driving less to relieve the traffic jam, making full use of energy to reduce the pollution and so on. All these actions will not only improve our living environments, but also benefit our coming generation.
Next year in August 8th, Beijing will witness the world’s greatest sporting event, will bring Olympic values to one-fifth of the world’s population, will be one of the most exciting projects in Olympic history. Beijing, a main attraction to tourists, will stretch hands to give the world people a warm welcome, and all the guests will be impressed deeply by China’s state-of-the-art venues, comfortable city environments, enthusiastic volunteers and overwhelming public interest.

Nowadays, lots of people start to realize that zoos are not a good place for animals. People need zoos because it is an easy way to close the animals and also because its convenient for people to observe them. However, zoos are in fact a cruel place for animals. Animals should live in their natural habitat. An animals natural instinct is to run and to hunt. But thats not for animals kept in zoos. Everyday, people feed them. Theyve never been taught how to hunt for food and will gradually lose their natures. That will be quite cruel for a animal, especially for wild animals such as tigers and lions. You can often find in zoos that a tiger kept in cage has a loose expression in its face.We set animals in zoos and therefore feel that they wont meet danger and may be able to protect them from dying out. This may be just a excuse we find for ourselves to make animals in cages just as entertainment. We always say animals are our friends, then why we put our friends in cages?

I agree with it. As a student, I should say, university shouldnt cut off electricity at dormitory at night. The original intention for university to cut off electricity is to ensure our rest for some students will stay up very late if there is nothing to limit them. However, these students are minority. Most students have regular timetable. What more, we are now already in university, I think we should be treated like high school students any longer. Especially in summer hot days, no electricity at night would be a nightmare to all students. We cant fall asleep without electric fans. I cant just imagine that.
